Networking - Excuses, Obstacles, Rewards
By Kelli Salls If you are in business, your mission includes reaching out to prospects that have a need you can fill. If you want to keep the doors to your business open, you can’t hide under a rock or in a cave and expect prospects to beat a path to your secret lair. You have to reach out in effective ways to let people know who you are and how you can solve their critical problems. One of the easiest and most immediate ways to market your business is through personal networking. You can hire a business development person to do this for you. But if it’s your business (no matter if you have 0 employees or 110 employees) you still need to get out there and take a pulse on the market, make connections and create the opportunities. | Networking Tips:
Be prompt and responsive when someone gives you a lead. People want to have their leads used without delay and to receive feedback from your progress in a timely fashion. The more responsive and thankful you are the more likely your connections will offer leads in the future.
BE REAL: When talking with people, you want to leave a good impression. Act sincere and focus on each conversation by listening, asking questions, not interrupting, and making good eye contact. (Don’t stare – that scares people!) Don’t look around the room to scout for others more important or more attractive. People can detect if you are not interested, so make sure to give them your dedicated attention. If you must exit a conversation, politely excuse yourself and thank them for their time. Networking circles are small, so ensure a positive reputation.
Choose you contacts effectively. There are certain professions/sectors with services that complement your own, which can help you on a regular basis with referrals and the sharing of information. Be sure to cultivate strong relationships in those arenas
Ignoring networking can lead you to waste a lot of time and energy. Don’t reinvent the wheel. Utilize your network to make things happen easily. By networking you access the wisdom, skills and expertise of others while bypassing some of their mistakes. Networking is a way to enhance you opportunities and aid you in achieving your goals more efficiently. |

| Is Your Networking Working? |
By Audrey Burton
Small business owners attend networking events to get clients. Much of the time, it doesn't work the way they anticipated, and they often give up before really determining why it didn't work. They move to a different group and are destined to repeat the same mistakes. First of all, let's talk about networking basics. In order to get the maximum bang for your networking buck, join a group where your target market gathers and keep showing up. That means to go to every event you can possibly attend over and over so you can build relationships with the other members and they grow to trust you. You are not just looking to get clients directly from the group though; you want them to refer others to you, so that relationship is very important. Also, you need to stick with it for at least several months (depending on the frequency of the meetings), bringing the same consistent message. Read the rest of this article by clicking HERE.
